YKnot, The Closet Clause and an Old Gift

The Closet Clause is a blog I enjoy reading when I miss the girls writing it, when I’m happy to have a breath of fresh ideas but mostly when I see pretty colors on their Facebook posts… So you can imagine I check it regularly… But today The Closet Clause crossed my mind for a different reason…

I was packing for a trip during which I’ll have to wear winter cloth (5 degrees C) and enjoy the mid-day sun (at 25 degrees C)… I obviously will face difficulties fitting everything in a (relatively) small luggage… But anyway I decided I’m not traveling without the knitted head-band the two adorable bloggers offered me earlier this year.

Warmly from sunny Beirut,

What Your Eye Contact Reveals

While I was reading about some eye body language stories I came across an article that made we want to share the info with you:

Up and to the Left (your left, his right)
Indicates: Visually Constructed Images
If you asked someone to “Imagine a purple buffalo”, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they “Visually Constructed” a purple buffalo in their mind.

Up and to the Right
Indicates: Visually Remembered Images
If you asked someone to “What color was the first house you lived in?”, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they “Visually Remembered” the color of their childhood home.

To the Left
Indicates: Constructed Sounds
If you asked someone to “Try and create the highest the sound of the pitch possible in your head”, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they “Auditorily Constructed” this this sound that they have never heard of.

To the Right
Indicates: Remembered Sounds
If you asked someone to “Remember what their mother’s voice sounds like “, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they

Down and to the Left
Indicates: Sensations/ Kinesthetic
If you asked someone to “Can you remember the smell of a campfire? “, this would be the direction their eyes moved in while thinking about the question as they used recalled a smell, feeling, or taste.

Down and To the Right
Indicates: Internal Dialog
This is the direction of someone eyes as they “talk to themselves”.

Aura Headpieces Setting New Trends and Meeting New Standards

Like very morning, I check my emails, read some blogs and open my facebook account… But this morning I had a great news: I saw this picture opening on my facebook! Need I say more?

Aura headpieces, who less than a year ago was only a new born beautiful brand, is today available in most international fashionistas’ favorite stop: Le Bon Marche Paris.

Seeing this put a huge smile on my face first not only because I am a very big fan myself and very often wear Carolina’s art (the designer) but also because I proudly have the pleasure to see these pieces on Lebelik’s face as well….

Looking forward for many new great news…

Here’s to Pessimism, Baby Steps, Small Successes and Most Importantly Great People behind Smart Doubts…

I had a quite interesting day that started with a morning meeting with two fascinating Syrian sisters and continued with an enjoyable Catalan Spanish professor. I then shared Japanese entrees with two friends that for me look like an old charming married and divorced (971246 times) couple. I obviously was late for work today… Happily late…

But since I left this adorable pair of friends, I couldn’t stop thinking about the discussions we had, some character traits that always surprised me and the different ideologies we believe in… So, like everyone, I googled everything we talked about but mainly the differences between the pessimistic and the optimistic and the diverse directions in which one or the other evolves.

I then realized you need a pessimistic to see the missing stones in a scenario, and an optimistic to give him the power to still continue; a pessimistic to help avoid the worst and an optimistic to make him smile along the way.  The pessimistic will have a thousand plans to get to his goals; the optimistic might have a vague plan drawn on a piece of paper lost some months ago….

To you, my brilliant not-so-optimistic friend, I promise to do my best when it comes to undertaking any project and I also promise to always thank God for introducing me to you, because I know you will always see the holes before anybody else does and will do your best to avoid any crash…

But I also wish you will always remember that, whether half full or half empty, there is always room for some vodka in the glass ;)

Morning Coffee with Black Diamonds, Indian Inspiration and Carla Skaff

My last week was one I enjoyed a lot though it drained me. So I decided to stay most of my week-end between my bedroom and the kitchen… And given that I had for the last 6 months in front of my eyes a Lego box I had offered my brother (that he never constructed – I, apparently was, 10years late); I decided to finally build my first Lego. In my life I got so accustomed to seeing my brother build Legos that for me this world was a forbidden territory, one I shall never trespass.. But here I was sitting on the floor and building my first Lego which I am very proud of. Lego in the process…My first Lego, Done!

Yesterday, monday morning as I opened my facebook I read all these curses and negative quotes about monday mornings…. Too bad for them because my week started with a warm coffee and Carla Skaff’s amazing line of jewellery inspired by her love for Indian culture… I must have misread the invitation email; I arrived there one hour earlier and found myself enjoying a great conversation with the Skaff family.

Carla is the youngest of the “Skaff Sisters” -the charming co-founders of Sunflowers-. She, on top of running their adorable boutique in Saifi, has a line of high-end jewellery. she sells mostly rings and earrings that are designed in Lebanon and produced in India…. And yesterday morning she extended he exhibition to one more day. So I went to the Skaff’s boutique and was happy to see I was welcome even though I wasn’t quite punctual. I had the intention to help them a bit with setting the small details that were left, but instead I enjoyed taking pictures…

Getting Ready…Eye Candy Getting Ready to be Properly Exposed…

Needless to say the Sunflower girls don’t do things half way and for Valentines each person left with a heart full of lavender…

How to Dress for Your Goals

This week-end a woman I work with, came to me and told me: “I never thought you would be like this! I only saw you in a work context. I never thought you would wear these cloth nor did I think we would be dancing like that together”. And it made me think… It’s true I only saw her in a work context before, but it’s also true she only saw be with the same type of cloth and the same style (before we bumped into each other in the same party on Saturday night). So I started researching on the matter and would like to share with you my thoughts…

We all have our comfort cloth, or last minute back-up dressing plan and our every day style. But sometimes, and in some situations we want to look different, give a distinct impression or use our physical appearance to get to a particular goal and her is how to do it…

To look more professional: It’s not just about meeting the “office-dress-code-sterotype”. It’s about going one step higher. So to look more professional than the day before you should just do one little extra effort so as to go from business casual to business appropriate, or from appropriate to corporate, or from corporate to stylishly ruling-the-world-corporate.

To look more trustworthy: Wear easy colors. Avoid the black and the pop colors. Beige, light blue, white or pink would perfectly do the trick.

To show more authority: Give more attention to details. Wear cufflinks, have impeccable nails and a blow-dry, wear make-up (not to strong not too light), be comfortable in big heels, wear a matching scarf. But please don’t over do it!!!

To look more creative: Black usually does the trick ;)

To give an impression of Independence: Have a trademark. Give yourself a bohemian, sporty, arty or chic look. Any look! But make sure you have one that you can embrace fully.

To look more friendly: First know you audience! Who are you trying to be friendly with? Try to always dress appropriately to the situation while still looking cool and approachable. Wearing a smile and happy colors (rainbow colors) is a good idea.

You want to look organized: To look organized it just takes some small details: have a tidy office and an organized desk. Keep your shoes polished, and you pants well ironed. Small details count.

Whatever you do always remember that a lot of people do judge a book by it’s cover so if you’re looking to give a certain impression remember to dress the part the part and the role will flow naturally. half the job would have been done!

And please never forget it’s only a impression you want to give to serve a certain goal! We like you like you are! So don’t play roles for too long. It would be sad.
